Art Criticism Process: 1. Describe: tell exactly what you see 2. Analyze: use elements/principles to reflect upon the art form. 3.Interpret: consider... -what is the artist trying to say? -what caused the artist to say it? -what is the historical milieu that surrounds the work of art -why was the work of art created in this particular style? 4. Evaluate: How successful or important is the work of art? I see hearts on a white tile wall outlining the work love with other hearts scattering around the word. The hearts are outlined with different colored markers. The hearts look like they are oragami and lots of different sizes. The artist is trying to express the different types of love because each of the hearts is different. The artist most likely said this so they could have a way to express their different types of love. There was not any historical point to this project. This was created in this style because we wanted to make a 3d project. Question:Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. Answer: My most successful project was the linocut printmaking piece. For this project I did a fish and printed it carving into a linoleum block. This was the most successful piece for me because it looks nice and I was able to put what was in my head onto the paper. Question:Do over: If given the opportunity, which project would you do over? Describe why and how you would redo this project. Reasons might include choosing a different theme, using a different medium or creating a different idea completely. Include photo. Answer: I would do the paper project because I feel we could have done something better. By this I mean there could have been something more interesting with a lot of color that looked good. I definitely would have done a different theme because we could have been a lot more creative. Question: Medium: which medium did you most enjoy working with and why? Which medium did you not use but wish you had explored? Include photo.
Answer: I really liked acrylic paint with the pallet knife because I really like the texture it gives. It seems to make the pictures look more realistic and gives an almost 3d look.

For my project I chose to do the book art where you cut something out of it and I chose to a maple leaf. I had to trace the leaf on the first page and then cut each individual page until I was satisfied with the depth. I chose this project because I saw it on pinterest and thought it was something I would really like to do. I found the overall thing went really well but it started to curve to the side so I would avoid that if I were to do it again.
For this piece I used pencil and a little bit of black and white charcoal on top of a white doily. I started with just drawing pencil on the doily but i couldn't get dark enough shades so I drew the darker shades with charcoal. I drew a picture of my brother and his wife because I needed a wedding gift for them and I forgot.

This artist's work is inspiring to me because they make art of pictures that she has collected over time and it shows a real sense of creativity that i am drawn too. There was no background on the artist but she now works in London painting at Chelsea College of Art Above is an in progress picture of my piece. Below are pictures of both of my finished pieces. For this piece started to make a turtle shell as my original idea but I changed my mind and did sgraffito on the outside and melted glass on the inside. I was inspired by Ms. Sudkamp to do the melted glass through a suggestion that she made. I think the most successful thing was the melted glass at the bottom. If I were to do it again I would be more careful with the shaping of the bowl because i was disappointed with that. And yes I would definitely sign up for sculpture class if I could.

Brainstorm List: -Paper mache rabbit -Flower clay box -Clay pot turtle -Clay box book -Animal clay pot - Fish scraffito Research Links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYbso-K34Xk The first photo is my best print and the bottom photo is my worst out of the five prints that I did. What we did for this project was to draw a draft and then color it black and white to show where we wanted to carve. We then took a linoleum block and carved out the parts that we wanted to be white. Then we rolled ink on the linoleum block and placed the paper on it and it gave us our print. My piece incorporates the theme line by the different lines on the fish giving it layers. I think that i got the 3D effect on the fish but the water didn't look very realistic.
